Public Transportation
Public transport around the islands is efficient and wallet-friendly as ferries are government-subsidized and can cost as little as DKK 15. If you purchase multi-day Travel Cards (DKK 500 for 4 days), they can be used on all buses and ferries, with the exception of the one to Mykines. Additionally, you can catch a bus that travels around Tórshavn, including to the historic village of Kirjubøur. If you have the time to travel according to the pace of the timetables, you won’t need to rent a car or book a bus tour.
More information about getting around in buses and ferries.
The timetables and prices for the public transport can be found on ssl.fo. They also have travel cards that cover all their network the only exception being the ferry to Mykines. You can buy the travel card at the information desk at the airport in Vágar or at Farstøðin, the main bus terminal in Tórshavn.
All ferries accept credit card, but the you need cash for the busses (with exception of route 300 between the airport and Tórshavn – here you can also pay with card)

If you’re looking at trying traditional Faroese food (fermented lamb and fish, rye bread, blood sausage and stewed rhubarb), check out the new restaurant, Ræst (the Faroese word for “fermentation”).
Other excellent restaurants that serve Faroese produce include Barbara Fish House, Katrina Christiansen, Áarstova and ROKS.
Places like Angus Steakhouse, Italian-inspired Toscana and Restaurant Hafnia serve great steaks. Other good restaurants are Skeiva Pakkhús (an Italian inspired restaurant) and The Tarv (Grill House).
For vegan/vegetarian eaters, newly opened Restaurant Ruts is the place to go.
Good cafés include Brell, Kaffihúsið, Gómagott, Kafé Umami, and Kafé Kaspar in Tórshavn Check out the Faroes’ only juice bar at No 12.
