QLunch: Unforgeable quantum encryption

Speaker: Christian Majenz from Qusoft

Title: Unforgeable quantum encryption

Abstract:
Chosen ciphertext security, integrity of ciphertexts and authenticated encryption are the bread and butter of classical symmetric-key encryption as it is deployed in practice. In this talk I will first introduce these security notions and point out some difficulties in generalizing them to the case of encryption of quantum data. I will go on to present a solution idea to this problem and some quantum security definitions, show how to fulfil them and mention some characterization results that provide evidence that these security notions are sufficiently strong. My talk will be based on joint work with Gorjan Alagic (U Maryland, NIST) and Tommaso Gagliardoni (IBM Research Zurich).
