Title:
Local boundary states imply gap for the parent Hamiltonian of PEPS

Abstract:
Proving that the parent Hamiltonian of certain classes of PEPS are gaped has been a major open problem for more than 30 years. We take an important step in solving this problem by showing that if some naturally defined boundary states are quasi-local Gibbs state, then the parent Hamiltonian of the bulk 2D PEPS has a constant gap in the thermodynamic limit.

I will give a high level overview of the problem and of the new ingredients that have allowed us to finally make progress.
