Title: Freeman Dyson's work om many-body quantum mechanics

Abstract:
Freeman J. Dyson, one of the great scientists of the 20thcentury, died on February 28, 2020 at the age of 96. Dyson has made pioneering work on quantum electrodynamics, spin waves, random matrix theory, number theory, many-body quantum mechanics, and much more. I am not an expert on most of this, but will try to mention some highlights. I will focus on the work on many-body quantum mechanics, which has influenced my own work the most and where I have contributed withsolutions to some of the questions raised by Dyson. The talk will be based on the four fundamental papers:

F. J. Dyson, Ground-state energy of a hard-sphere gas, Physical Review,
106 (1957), 20-26.
Dyson, F. J.; Lenard, A. Stability of matter. I. J. Math. Phys. 8 (1967),
no. 3, 423–434.
Dyson, F. J. Ground-state energy of a finite system of charged particles.
J. Math. Phys. 8 (1967), no. 8, 1538–1545.
Lenard, A.; Dyson, F. J. Stability of matter. II. J. Math. Phys. 9 (1968),
no. 5, 698–711.
