Title: Why settle for a BMW algebra

Abstract: The act of braiding strings in three dimensions is described mathematically by operators that can be composed to form groups of importance in knot theory, topology and representation theory. Certain quotients of the corresponding braid group algebras and the related braid-monoid algebras have applications to Yang-Baxter integrable systems, including the so-called Hecke, Temperley-Lieb and BMW algebras. We will outline a framework within which these well-known algebras appear as special cases.
