Title: Out-of-time ordered correlates for mean-field bosons
Abstract: Out-of-time ordered correlators (OTOCs) are a quantifier used in the study of quantum many-body chaos to investigate the scrambling of quantum information across a large number of degrees of freedom. The underlying prediction of quantum many-body chaos is that OTOCs can be derived as the limit of classical dynamics. Based on this, the idea is that the exponential growth of OTOCs at a rate known as 'butterfly velocity' can be related to chaotic behaviour of quantum information scrambling. We study OTOCs in order to quantify correlations in the dynamics of mean-field bosons. Our first result is an asymptotic formula for OTOCs in the large particle limit. We then use this formula to derive an upper bound on the butterfly velocity in our second result. This is joint work with Marius Lemm.
